UV is germicidal and stops the mold, fungus and bacteria laden sludge that clogs HVAC drain pans and drain lines. Stopping mold growth in HVAC equipment can bring allergy relief, because reduces or altogether eliminates the large quantity of allergens that can be generated inside the air conditioner as the result of mold infestation.

A noticeable freshening of the air is due to the prevention of “HVAC dirty-sock smell” and other “air conditioning smells” that result from bio-contamination of the HVAC system.

UV helps optimize cooling efficiency! Energy is saved because HVAC bio-growth forms a film that insulates the cooling coil from the passing air it is supposed to cooling. With UV the film is eliminated along with its insulating effect so the HVAC system runs less. Increased efficiency with less wear and tear are important cost saving benefits of HVAC disinfection with UV.

Ultravation UV lights lead the industry in UV intensity (they themselves operate very efficiently), the process produces no by-products or ozone.

MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. It is the industry standard filter performance rating system as developed by American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. The higher the rating, the more effective the filter is at capturing smaller particles.

MERV 11 performance standard provides 85% efficiency for particles 3 to 10 microns in size. Pollen and mold can be as small as 5 microns.

The MERV 13 performance standard provides 90% capture efficiency for particles 3 to 10 microns in size. MERV 13 filters also capture 75% of particulates as small as 0.3 microns –10 times smaller (tobacco smoke particles fall in the 0.3 range).

Due to layered construction Ultravation MERV 11 and MERV 13 filters have a lifespan of up to 1 year, depending on the condition of the air. When higher particulate levels are known to exist the filter should be inspected at 6 months

Joomla T3 System Plugin

1-year replacement: Residential UV lamps should be replaced every 9000 hours or approximately every 12 months. For people with respiratory conditions or other acute sensitivities, we strongly recommend keeping to an annual lamp replacement schedule.

2-year replacement: If your UV lamp is strictly used for keeping coils clean on your HVAC unit, you can save money and the environment when you use your lamps for their maximum two-year life span. However, UV lamps must be replaced after the maximum two year installation period.

UV lamps running beyond three years may contribute to excessive power consumption of the ballast which can cause overheating of the power supply and lamp, further deteriorating the effectiveness of the product and/or cause system failure.

If the UV lamps are not to be replaced within a 3-year period, turn off or otherwise disconnect power from the system until new lamps can be replaced.

It is recommended that a professional HVAC contractor replace your UV lamps. UV light is a powerful tool for disinfecting the air and damp surfaces within your HVAC system, however it can also be harmful to your eyes and skin if either come in direct contact with the UV.

If you choose to do-it-yourself, please heed these warnings when replacing your UV lamps:

WARNING: UV Hazard. Always protect eyes from ultraviolet light. NEVER look at UV lamps in operation. Unplug or disconnect power before re-lamping or servicing.

WARNING: Severe eye damage or temporary blinding may occur.

WARNING: DO NOT operate outside of Air Handler. Mount product to duct first.

WARNING: No openings in duct are allowed which would give direct line-of-sight to the UV light.

The above warnings are also listed in your Ultravation UV system Owner's Manual. If you need assistance replacing your UV lamps, please contact an HVAC professional.

In the event of accidental lamp breakage or after replacement of the ultraviolet lamp, please ensure that the lamp is disposed of in accordance with local and state environmental laws regarding fluorescent lamps containing mercury.

• Why use T3 framework

This is a template framework which can expand template functions of JOOMLA, optimize the template structure. Its biggest feature is multiple layout system. As is well-know, JOOMLA template only have one ‘index.php’ to determine the overall layouts for website. On compared, T3 framework can realize multiple layouts on the basis of one template. T3 even can put layout into different specified Settings, such as iPhone, ipad, PC, in order to achieve the best display effect on each platform.

The two necessary components:

JA T3 Blank template for JOOMLA 2.5

JA T3 System plugin for JOOMLA 2.5

JA T3 Blank template is a blank template that supports a new template to develop based on it. Use T3 Blank template will save a lot of time for development. The blank template name is ‘ja_t3_blank’, and it needs to rename the directory and templateDetails.XML to developer’s template name.

‘JA T3 System plugin’ is the core of T3.

After installing the above two files, it can immediately see the blank template effect on the foreground.

• Layout adjustment

JA T3 layout has different alter mode from JOOMLA default that do not need to alter ‘index.php’ file.

The mainly customized file structure as follow:

TEMPLATE/templateDetails.xml (about module details, such as positions definition)

TEMPLATE/info.xml (about layout details, used to specify T3 layout to load resource of css and javascript)

TEMPLATE/css/template.css (the main style sheet for module)

TEMPLATE/html/ (template for component & module)

TEMPLATE/etc/layouts/ (T3 layout definition, can be altered in the background)

TEMPLATE/etc/profiles/ (T3 layout parameters definition, can be altered in the background)

• Development notes

1. T3 would dispense with the need for install menu module, because it has integrated drop – down, mega and drop-line these kinds of menu effect.

2. T3 need to clean cache after altering modules, then it will show the result. On account of T3 has built-in the CSS & JS compression optimization and template cache, and it is the default open.

3. tp = 1 is debug function of template which is default closed in JOOMLA 2.5vesion. To start tp=1 is at the option of template manage.

Customer blocks

Develop new custom layout according to the default layout of T3 framework.

• Layouts operation:

Layout can be switched over through the user tools Panel of foreground

Layout can be edited by the build-in editor in the background

Priority: the layouts and blocks in the custom theme can cover the blank core

• Blocks operation:

Blocks can be as the separate file that is used to control the position of the specified module, such as footer, mainnav, and middle;

Blocks can be automatic generation according to the setting of layouts: spotlights, left & right, content-mass &column-mass;

Some blocks with specified functions cannot be edited by user, such as user-tools, IE6warning;

Blocks can call the dynamic content: system messages or component content form body part;

Blocks can call ‘js’ and ‘css’ file.

Layout information:

The picture above is about the XML file of layout.

This Layout loaded all Blocks of default, covered the order of header with mainnav and the position of the left Block. When use the left-body-right Layout, the position of left-mass and right-mass is hidden.

Blocks alteration:

Mainav Block is moved to the top

Header Block is moved to below mainnav Block

Left Block uses left1 layout position

Right Block uses right2 layout position

Notes:

Towards to the style design, developers can definite different styles in template.css. However, it needs to definite module.php in the html file that adds the codes of style design.
